About the horizontal ellipsis symbol
Used in writing to indicate the omission of words or a trailing pause, the horizontal ellipsis is a common punctuation mark found in both formal and informal text. It consists of three evenly spaced dots and appears in English and many other languages to show that a thought is incomplete or that material has been left out of a quotation. In digital communication, it often conveys hesitation, suspense, or a deliberate trailing off of speech.
