About the ascending node symbol

The ascending node symbol, a circle with a line rising to the right, represents the point where a celestial body’s orbit crosses from south to north through a reference plane, such as the ecliptic for the Moon or a planet. In astronomy and astrology, it is paired with the descending node to describe orbital intersections.

It appears in astronomical diagrams, ephemeris tables, and horoscope charts to mark this orbital crossing, and is also used in astrological contexts to denote the north node of the Moon. The symbol is part of the Miscellaneous Symbols block, where it accompanies other celestial and orbital notation.
