About the right angle bracket symbol

The right angle bracket is a punctuation mark shaped like a mirrored, pointed arrowhead or a chevron facing to the right. In East Asian typography, it serves as a closing bracket paired with a left-facing counterpart, often used to enclose quoted material, titles, or parenthetical remarks in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text. Its appearance is distinct from the similar ASCII greater-than sign, as it takes up the full width of a character cell and aligns with other CJK punctuation.
